Prison Break Font

Prison Break font has the look of something stamped by a bureaucratic machine that was never designed to be anything other than functional — block-style utilitarian lettering with a pressed, institutional quality that evokes intake forms, cell block signs, and the kind of stenciled markings applied to things the state considers its property. Fox’s 2005 thriller, following Michael Scofield’s meticulously engineered plan to break his wrongfully convicted brother out of Fox River State Penitentiary, needed title typography that could carry both the show’s intense procedural intelligence and the cold institutional reality of the system being beaten. The freely available Prison Break Font channels this gritty, institutional energy.
