The Simpsons font

The Simpsons font — designed by Sharkshock — is a masterclass in productive imperfection: bold, rounded font with deliberately uneven baselines and hand-drawn character that feel spontaneous rather than engineered, communicating the same warmth, irreverence, and creative recklessness that Matt Groening’s animated series has brought to Fox’s Sunday night schedule since 1989.

The typography’s genius is in what it refuses — it refuses to be polished, refuses to conform to a consistent baseline, refuses the kind of corporate tidiness that would suggest a show with institutional ambitions. Instead it looks like something sketched by a reasonably talented person who was also laughing at their own joke at the time.

The freely available Simpsons Font brings this cheerfully imperfect energy to creative projects.
