Supernatural font has outlasted fifteen seasons and a devoted fandom that measures loyalty in years and tattoos — a weathered, stone-carved display serif font that looks like it was commissioned by whoever inscribed the first protective ward in the first hunter’s journal, its letterforms carrying the specific patina of something that has been around long enough to have seen things that would make most people retire to a different state entirely.
The CW series, which ran from 2005 to 2020, needed title typography that could hold together a show about two brothers hunting monsters in a black 1967 Impala while also navigating the full cosmological hierarchy from hell to heaven, and the ancient-feeling carved serif manages to be simultaneously grand and scrappy enough for exactly that tonal range.
