Arrested Development Font

Arrested Development font — Antique Olive Bold in its actual application, with Franklin Gothic Heavy also in the lineage — is a thick, confident, slightly chaotic sans-serif deployed in the deliberately mismatched stacked layout of the Fox series’ logo: “ARRESTED” and “DEVELOPMENT” in unequal sizes and positions, as if whoever designed it was doing their best under difficult circumstances, which is essentially the premise of every episode. Mitchell Hurwitz’s 2003–2019 comedy about the catastrophically dysfunctional Bluth family needed title lettering that communicated the show’s characteristic blend of confident incompetence — bold and assertive on the surface, slightly unhinged in its internal logic. The freely available Arrested Development Font brings this bold, slightly askew energy to creative projects.
