Amadeus Font

Amadeus font carries the same magnificent contradiction as Miloš Forman’s 1984 film — it is simultaneously stately and theatrical, historical and alive, the typography of a court announcement delivered by someone who can barely contain their laughter at the absurdity of all this grandeur. The title lettering draws on the high-contrast Didot and Bodoni tradition of 18th-century neoclassical type, those razor-thin hairlines and dramatically swelling strokes that were the visual language of the European Enlightenment and remain the default code for classical music, opera, and luxury. The freely available Amadeus Font package gives designers access to this operatic typographic tradition for exploration and reference.
