Friends Font

Friends font is a clean, cheerful sans-serif punctuated by coloured dots — one of the most recognisable and structurally simple title treatments in television history, which is precisely the point. The 1994 NBC sitcom needed lettering that could stand in for the warmth and accessibility of the show itself: nothing intimidating, nothing edgy, nothing that might suggest this was anything other than a programme about six funny, loveable people living improbably large New York apartments and having a genuinely great time. The freely available Friends Font recreates this instantly familiar typographic warmth for designers working across a wide range of contexts.
