Wicked Font

Wicked font — closely resembling Ravenscroft and Widow by FG Studios, both free for personal use — is the typography of a story about two women who are defined by their difference from each other and from the world’s expectations of them, and the letterforms carry that duality in their own structure: tall, sharp, dramatically elongated with elegant curves that simultaneously suggest enchantment and threat, the visual register of something that is both beautiful and fundamentally not what it appears to be. Jon M. Chu’s 2024 film adaptation of the Stephen Schwartz/Winnie Holzman Broadway phenomenon — itself the untold story of the witches of Oz before Dorothy’s arrival — needed title typography that could hold the weight of one of the most beloved musicals in contemporary theatre history while communicating the film’s own visual ambition. Both typefaces are available for download: Ravenscroft and Widow.
